The roles performed by the pipeline integrity engineer include:
1. Develop and maintain the written Integrity Management Programs for all pipeline assets.
2. Develop and maintain standards and procedures to support the Integrity Management Programs for all pipeline assets.
3. Evaluate ad hoc pipeline defects using appropriate fitness-for-service engineering methods and determine appropriate mitigation methods.
4. Perform Live Line Welding and Hot Tap Assessment calculations.
5. Evaluate pipeline operation pressures, establish pipeline MAOPs and MOPs.
6. Evaluate pump discharge set points, and complete class location studies for natural gas pipelines.
7. Complete preventative and mitigative measures risk analysis, make recommendations, and scope resulting projects for each segment with completed Baseline Integrity Assessment.
8. Determine reinspection interval for each segment with completed Baseline Integrity Assessment.
9. Determine the Assessment Method for each test segment of the annual integrity assessment schedule.
10. Evaluate Integrity Assessment Results to determine need for temporary pressure reductions, and calculate required operating pressures.
11. Initiate and track temporary pressure reductions associated with Pipeline Integrity Activities.
